Have you ever noticed how songs that are sooooooo appropriate to you life, in that minute, pop up. As if the song knows that you need to hear it.
There has been a lot of reflection on my part, lately. Most it has to do with my mother's death and seeing my aunt slip into that other world of Alzeimher's, to bring home my own mortality. But also reflecting on my own youth/past. Well, this song popped up.
I love to organize things. Just wish that I did it frequently & often. Because I find things that I either forgotten or missed.
Such as this picture from my trip to Rome 2007.
This is a closer shot of the same Madonna & Child. I like the color of blue on her robe as well as the metal canopy.
Once I discovered the "Madonna's" of Rome, they were popping up everywhere I looked. Like this one. I especially like the Christmas Cactus on the ledge.
Half way through my visit to Rome, did I notice the quantity and variety of the images of the Madonna. Some times with the child or alone. Most of them were mounted on the corner of buildings but some were almost like little shrines, like the one below.
Here's another favorite; I especially like the lantern above the image and the wooden framing.
I think this was by the Panethon. Don't you love the pigeon, resting on top?
And another one........
Rome was enchanting, which surprised me. For years, I read that Rome was a large, dirty, crowded, a pick pocket filled city and hotter than the hubs of hell in the summer. Due to air miles, I arrived in Rome. Now I want to go back and find more Madonna's!
